Leather Shot Bags & Accouterments for the French & Indian War.
Welcome to my Blog! My name is Darrel Lang and I specialize in the Replication of Leather shot bags & Accouterments made in the colonies by the harness and saddle maker of the18th century. All items are hand sewn using waxed linen thread, dyed, then treated with neatsfoot oil & bee’s wax. The leather used is of veg. tanned cow hide 2-3 or 4-5 oz. weight. Other materials used are pig skin, period correct linens for the 18th century and iron or brass buckles. Please take a look at what I have to offer. Thank you!

Leather Belt Bags

Belt Bag #1
 This leather belt bag is made from 2-3 oz. veg. tan leather hand stitch with linen thread dyed a reddish brown and treated with bees wax, has a small inside pocket and the flap is hand tooled. Finished size is 7"w x 6"d and has a 1 1/4" gusset.

Belt Bag #2
 This leather belt bag is made in the same manner as the above bag, but the flap is trimmed with linen and also has a small inside pocket. The finished size is 8"w x 5"d with a 1 1/2" gusset.

Belt Bag #3
This belt bag is my version of the Lyman pouch, made with 2-3 oz. veg. tan leather dyed a dark brown treated with bees wax, and stitched with a out side seam. The finished size is 7 3/4"w x 5"d with a full inside pocket.

Small Poll axes & sheaths

 These small axes are great to used to do all the small chores on a Trek or in camp, like cutting kindling and game prep. It's a much lighter alternative to a belt axe. These are made to be carried over the shoulder. The sheath is made from 3-4oz. veg tan leather, hand stitched and dyed a dark brown and treated with bee's wax. The strap is not adjustable but will fit an average to tall person. Each set is a little different.



These heads are forged from medium carbon steel with a slight hammered finish. Sizes vary a little and it has an oval eye. The size is about 4 1/4" long and has a 2" in cutting edge on average. The axe is fitted with a 12"curly maple handle.

New Bag #1

"New" Shot Bag, 6 1/2" wide by 7 1/2" deep, made from 3oz. veg.tan leather hand sewn, linen thread, dyed a dark brown and treated with bee's wax. The flap is trimmed with frayed linen, the bag is unlined and has a large pocket in side that is sewn into three smaller pockets. The leather strap is 1 1/2" wide and tapering down to fit a 1" iron forged buckle.
